Are you on the constant look-out for little cafes or restaurants that you can eat or work from, without possibly breaking the bank? I stumbled upon this little divine treasure, along Ngong road- Silk Wood Cafe. Even the name sounds promising right?

It was one of those days when I badly needed to get out, plus get a scrumptious breakfast for cheap. A quiet and inspiring environment was going to be a bonus… With a story to write and a deadline to beat, the place had to be just right!
Silk Wood Cafe… The Home of Soul Food!
Enter Silk Wood Cafe, tucked at the edge of a building that houses National Bank, not far from Adams Arcade, along Ngong Road.
My first impression of Silk Wood was cozily-warm with a garden feel. Their layout, with well spread-out plants and flowers, makes great use of the little space they’ve got on the veranda.

With the evident promise of fresh air and calm, the busy and dusty Ngong Road quickly melted into oblivion.
As I found a place to plug in my machine, I noted the peaceful setting that would be perfect for my writing. I honestly could not believe this precious find!

The waiter, Brian, was helpful and polite in catering to my requests one of which was to plush up my chair with pillows for proper back support.
I learnt that they do office deliveries in the building, so service can be a little slow, but somewhat bearable. However, if patience is not a virtue for you, the delightful food certainly makes up for the wait! Silk Wood Cafe’s menu is a sight for sore eyes! 😀 The prices are friendly with an array of options to choose from.

Serene Vibes all through the day…
Silk Wood Cafe, as I learned is serene throughout the day; so much so that I worked well into the afternoon.

It is a lovely place to stop-over if you are on Ngong Road and need to grab lunch or a healthy breakfast. They have free WIFi, so you will be able to access the internet.
It is well-suited for anyone looking for a tranquil atmosphere to have meetings, or get some work done.
This is a place that I would definitely go back to, again and again… Admittedly, I have gone back with my friends who loved it as much as I did (hence the many plates of food 😉 😀 )
Helpful Tips:
- You can get a good, filling breakfast in the range of Kshs.150 to Kshs.450
- The meals range from Kshs.350 to Kshs.600
- You can choose to make payment via MPESA
- They have the option of serving small to large portions at varied costs…Be sure to specify the portion you prefer, when placing your order.
- The quiet environment and round tables, make a perfect setting for small semi-official outdoor meetings
Thank you for reading! I hope you’ve enjoyed our Silk Wood Cafe experience! Are there such little gems in your local area you’ve discovered lately?
I’d love to hear back from you… Do leave a comment down below and I’ll be certain to respond!
