Hello there! ๐ Do you cringe at the thought of packing for a trip? Cringe no more! In this post, I’ll share practical packing tips on how to do it right!
Packing: The Two Types Of Travellers…
Perhaps you are like my brother who happens to be the most efficient packer I know. Whether he is going off to climb Mount Kilimanjaro, or he’s heading to Mombasa on a work-trip, he remains unfazed. The guy gets hisย packing done on the very morning of his trip, and somehow manages to fit in everything he needs to survive- in a backpack!
While I hate to admit it, packing for me could be described as- hurricane meets car crash with a ball of mayhem on top. ๐
I tend to over-pack, particularly if a place promises to be cold- even in the least! I am a cold freak who will pack nearly everything she owns to keep out the cold, okay maybe not everything…but you get the picture right? ๐
The worst part is over-packing only to find that you forgot the most essential things; when itโs too late! Can you relate?
Whichever of these two scenarios you identify with, it certainly helps to have a system to guide your packing process…
That is why I wasย super excited to doย this collaboration post with Jose Gonzalez, an American journalist, on ‘Packing Tips‘, and ‘How to do it right’ ๐ ๐

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย There’s hope in the horizon… ๐
Packing Tips: How To Do It Right
Jose Says: Has it ever happened that you were on a camping trip and you forgot to bring the most important thing of all: spare batteries!?
Nowadays, it is all about pictures or it did not happen. So, no matter how wild your tale may sound if you have a couple of snaps to prove it, then you are in for business!

But, all of this is pretty much impossible if you forgot to bring spare batteries for the camera, or as is more common nowadays-your power bank.
Why not charge your phone/camera at the car? However, if you can camp near your car, it isnโt really camping is it? Ideally you want to camp as far away from the road as possible. This will probably add a bit of hiking to the equation, but that is just more fun. ๐
So, what should you do to reduce the probability of missing out important things for camping or any other trip? It is quite simple actually…
- You should start by making a list of items that you will need on the trip. Now, we know it might seem utterly boring and unnecessary, but be assured- it is essential.
- And if you happen to have a smartphone โ which is very likely โ you can use Siri, Android or Cortana to take down your list. Just dictate the items.
- Once you have the list, it is time to select an appropriate bag. Find a a sturdy backpack with a good weight distribution system, which will keep you from getting a strain or cramps. Mr. Price is a good option for a travel bag.
- Just roll up the items and put them into the bag. Tick off the items one by one so that you do not miss anything out.
This is just the start. There is a whole art to packing efficiently and we have made just the right infographic to ease your way through it. ๐

May 19, 2016 at 1:51 pmVery helpful Marion
I am more of a checklist person who apparently still needs days to pack
I totally relate with over-parking, I tend to think maybe a certain dress may not quite fit the occasion or maybe a pant will work better with a nice blouse or a T-shirt…. so I pack all options, so be sure ,.. and safe
Am just saying it not entirely fun to pack.
