When was the last time you went on a holiday? Well, I know just the right place! 🙂 Temple Point Resort is the ultimate holiday destination in Watamu!
A short while back, my family took its first ever family holiday! My brother kept the actual destination in Watamu, a surprise! Since I love surprises and travelling, I was oozing with excitement and curiosity all at once!
I will admit right off the bat that this will likely be an imperfect account of what happened… Simply because my mind went on holiday too. 😀
Mr. Charo, a warm friendly chap, met us at Malindi Airport welcoming us to Watamu, with that patient and kind gusto you only find at the Coast. The rest of us were high on happiness, so his zest matched our mood perfectly. 😀
The charm of Watamu hits you immediately- like a tonne of bricks! My eyes were enchanted by beautiful oceanic views surrounded by greenery. Imagine going to a place with farms, old-town Swahili houses, lots of trees and the unending spread of the Indian Ocean creating a panoramic view….It is breath-taking to say the least.
Enter Temple Point Resort… Wow! I recall feeling like a part of me was gliding ahead on cloud nine… My family around me was also mesmerized and taking it all in. Nothing can replace that feeling of our sharing in that idyllic moment, as Temple Point Resort came into view. It was instantly clear that my brother had chosen a special place…
We are quite the loud bunch, and I bet the hoteliers were shocked a little at first! We received a warm reception all the same, feeling immediately at home.
From here, it’s hard to write in sequence, because things get a little hazy in my mind… Hence, I will share the highlights of our stay at Temple Point Resort, and what you can expect from this exceptional holiday destination. 🙂
Highlights Of Our Temple Point Resort Holiday:-
Remarkable Accommodation and Grounds
The resort is nothing short of enthralling… As we made our way to our rooms, I fell more and more in love with Temple Point.
They have huge green grounds, with 20 bungalows to choose from. You can choose either a Double, Twin or Triple room, within the bungalows.
The rooms are clean and spacious, with luxurious canopy beds. We each fell for our rooms, and it was a struggle to leave each time!
It is a place where you will not mind waking up to every day, or mind going to go to bed at night.
They have an indoor restaurant, a lounge area and two swimming pools, with a picturesque view of the ocean.
They also have a Spa which my brother got to sample, and loved every minute of! (Hope he doesn’t kill me for this revelation!) 😀
Outstanding Service
We noticed their commendable service from the get-go. There were other guests at the hotel, most of whom were foreigners. However, we felt very well-taken care of during our entire stay.
Delightful Food Experience
They serve amazing foods at their buffet, with great starters, main meals and desserts. I would have liked some ice cream for dessert, but as a non-cake fan, I promise you their cakes are divine! I liked that they kept it interesting, with new menu items at every meal.

Memorably Engaging Entertainment
In my travels so far, Temple Point takes the crown on entertainment! They take the pains of ensuring that their guests are well-entertained! Their entertainment crew made up of Pili, Fred and George is simply amazing!
On our first full day, they organized an excursion to the beach where we had loads of fun getting wet and sandy. They also arranged a fun activity for all the kids, which was excellent in engaging the children, while the adults got to enjoy a kid-free afternoon. 😀
Pili, took my sisters and I through water aerobics in their beautiful swimming pool, which was such an invigorating experience! Of course seeing my mum swim and enjoy the water, was also a surprising treat!

Zay having the time of her life!
On one night we had indoor games, and dancing which allowed us to make friends with the other guests at the hotel. It was nice to meet two honeymooners, who are now great friends of the family. The best night was when they set up a dance floor by the poolside with great music and a DJ.
Special Holiday Treatment
Our holiday fell over the Mother’s day weekend, and around my niece’s birthday. On our request, the hotel organized a cake for my mother, sister and niece, at no extra cost. To top it all, the Manager Mr. Ravi, and the owners gave my niece a birthday gift, which was pretty special.
Their Executive Chef Sunil Soni was also very kind and warm towards us during our stay, always making sure our dining needs were well-catered to.
On our last night they made our dinner special by bedazzling the chairs with flowers. Even more outstanding was the Chef indulging our request to make Biryani, a coastal dish, off the menu. It which was such a lovely treat, and superbly delicious!

Honeymooner’s Treat
I would definitely recommend Temple Point Resort without any reservations. They took it upon themselves to make our first family Holiday a very memorable experience. Many thanks to Mr. Ravi and his entire team for the excellent hospitality.
I was impressed that they stayed open during the low season, when most hotels along the shoreline were closed. I believe we need to become more and more of local tourists to keep such businesses running and open.
TIPS:
- Look out online and on the hotel website for various low-season packages that you can take advantage of
- Plan your trips early in advance- you are more likely to get discount packages this way
- The more the merrier! Ask for family and group discounts
- The hotel can organize transport for those traveling by road to Watamu, at a cost
- Book your flights in advance, but compare all the airlines before you make a commitment to ensure you get the best deals
Hopefully, with these few tips, you will realize that one does not need to break the bank to go on a holiday> It can be done 🙂 😉

Indeed we should endeavor to be more of local tourists to ensure the industry does not entirely depend on foreigners for sustainability.
