Hello my friends! 😀 Are you cracking your brain for creative ways to express your love this Valentine’s Day? Look no further! 😀 The Chocolate Festival at dusitD2 is your Valentine’s saving grace. 🙂
It is delicately fresh, intimate and as chocolatey as love can get… Simply put, it is 4 days of chocolate and love at dusitD2 hotel, Nairobi!
When we received an invite to attend a Chocolate Demo at dusitD2 hotel, my excitement levels shot through the roof… Any excuse to visit this luxurious, city boutique hotel on Riverside drive, is always welcome!
(You can read my review of dusitd2 HERE.)
They put together a live Chocolate-making Demo for us, at their SOKO Restaurant. This was like a teaser for the Chocolate festival that will be taking place from the 11th to 14th of February. I will get into more details of this in a few… 🙂
On the day of the Chocolate Demo, I was floating between feelings of anxiety and excitement…. My anxiety washed away as soon as my eyes fell upon the most beautiful chocolate display I have ever seen! “This must be it…chocolate heaven,” I thought to myself as I looked around the cosy, sweet, chocolate-scented room.
I remember walking around, feeling a little light-headed with elation… 😀
We were led to a room, where the ingredients were laid out on a table. I was tempted to dip my finger in the bowl of melted chocolate and lick its rawness unashamedly, oh if only…. 🙂
A Case of The Master Chef
Their Pastry Head Chef, Anis Mouldi went to work, and we watched with utter amazement as he skilfully took us through the steps, mixing and pouring, doing unimaginable things to chocolate… We drooled, oohed and aahed in tune to his hand motions… The guy is the Master Chef of chocolate!
I recall one of the guests next to me whispering in awe ‘I want to marry a pastry chef, who can make chocolate like that…’ From one ‘chocolate-smitten’ heart to another…right there and then, we became friends! 🙂

Allow me to confess that the details of the chocolate recipe escaped me… Particularly because my eyes and sense of taste overtook my hearing. All the more reason why you must visit dusitD2 for this heavenly Chocolate Festival experience!
Chocolate Treats For Life!
They are going to have over 50 Chocolate treats and delicacies for you to try! And if you are in a good mood, bring along your loved one…right? Okay, bring them along anyway, and you will both be in a good mood after this chocolatey experience! Take my word for it, it is worth the visit! 😀
When the live demo was over, we were now invited to partake of the chocolate treats on display. Ula-la! If I’d been lightheaded before, this is where all my senses left the building!
We had a nice time chatting around with the very friendly chefs, and basically stuffing ourselves with chocolate. Chef Anton, especially, has this heavy, rich French accent going on that was a delight to listen to. I don’t know whether it was my ‘happy’ state, or the accent, because I could barely understand a word he said! 😀
Did you know? White Chocolate is not true chocolate. Okay, calm down my dears, my face nearly fell off too when Chef Anis shared this fun fact… 😀 Apparently, cocoa mass can’t be used to make white chocolate. White chocolate is actually made from cocoa butter, milk powder and sugar.
Well, no matter…White chocolate is still the *ish*, far as I’m concerned… who’s with me on this? 😀
On that night though, my absolute favorite were these cute, little yummy green pallets. Chef Anton told me, in his rich French accent, that they are called ‘Pailete’. To be honest, I’m not certain that was what he actually said…but hey! 😀 Of this I am certain though, they are ridiculously luscious. I would probably kill to taste them again!
