If you can’t fly, run. If you can’t run, walk. If you can’t walk, crawl, but by all means- keep moving! ~ Martin Luther King, Jr.
Hello there my amazing friends! 😀 How are you doing? Are you eating well, keeping fit, and laughing every chance you get? Don’t worry if the answers are not immediately clear to you, take your time… 🙂
I have been contemplating whether and how to write this post for a while now…. Because you see, sometimes while you are minding your own business, life shows up with a huge STOP sign, and slaps you in the face! For whatever reason, it feels like someone sucker-punched you, (KaBoom!) and you are left there gazing in shock like… Huh? 🙁
This has been me, in the past few weeks… You may have noticed that I have not posted anything for some time now. I recently went through something that stopped me right in my tracks… And I have been feeling a little stuck, confused and somewhat disoriented…. Have you ever felt like this?
Although, it may seem like I am speaking in parables, I bet that you can relate in one way or another… yes?
I was going to file this post under ‘someday, maybe’… But, after talking to my cousin over the weekend, I realized that we are all going through life one way or another, and we all need a little encouragement now and then…
Sometimes we just need to hear that ‘it’s going to be okay’, and ‘you are not alone.’ 🙂
That realization gave me the courage to share this post, and not keep it to myself… So, I am writing this for me and for anyone reading this who may be feeling weighed down by life. I hope that you will leave this space feeling inspired, + a little more lighthearted and hopeful than when you came. 😀 😀
When facing ups and downs, it can be tough to keep one’s spirits up, right? Hence I’ve been working on developing some new habits. 🙂 One such habit, is listening to inspiring messages by those who have gone before us- with far much more experience in this thing called life.
I would love to share some of the lessons I’ve drawn from these messages- through quotes, that will hopefully inspire you to keep moving, no matter what you are facing. 😀
Laugh every chance you get!
If you don’t laugh, you will die… You know, you really must laugh. If every human being in the world would admit it, he or she is the funniest person you’ve ever met… One must laugh~ Maya Angelou.
The events around you may not be determined by you but how your experience of life is on this planet, is 100% determined by you. ~ Sadhguru
Joy and depression cannot reside in the same space…. Laugh every chance you get, just burst out laughing, even if it ain’t funny-just laugh! ~ Steve Harvey
Buhahahahahahahahahahahahahaha> now you try it! 😀 😀
You will fail at some point in your life. Accept it. You will lose. You will embarrass yourself. You will suck at something. There’s no doubt about it….. But fall forward. Sometimes it’s the easiest way to figure out where you are going.
Never be discouraged, never hold back, give everything you’ve got, and when you fall throughout life, remember this- fall forward. ~ Denzel Washington.
My biiig mouth! My biiig mouth! I got a big mouth, can’t help it… I talk from my heart, I’m real…. I’m trying to find my way in the world, I’m trying to be somebody…. I go down paths that haven’t been traveled before, and I usually mess up. But I learn, I come back stronger….
Every time I speak I want the truth to come out…. I’m not saying that I’m going to rule the world, or that I’m going to change the world. But I guarantee that I will spark the brain that will change the world…. And that’s our job, it’s to spark somebody else watching us. ~Tupac Shakur
Be a Blessing to Somebody
I’ve had so many rainbows in my clouds. I’ve had a lot of clouds, but I have had so many rainbows …. One of the things I do when I step up on the stage…when I go to teach my classes… to direct a movie, I bring everyone who has ever been kind to me, with me… I say-come with me, I’m going on stage, come with me, I need you now…so I don’t ever feel I have no help. I’ve had rainbows in my clouds.
And the thing to do, it seems to me, is to prepare yourself so that you can be a rainbow in somebody else’s cloud. Somebody who may not look like you…or speak your language…be a blessing to somebody. ~ Maya Angelou.
…I want to suggest some of the things that should be in your life’s blueprint. Number one in your life’s blueprint should be: a deep belief in your own dignity, your own worth & your own ‘somebodiness’.
Don’t allow anybody to make you feel that you are nobody. Always feel that you count, always feel that you have worth, and always feel that your life has ultimate significance.
Secondly, in your life’s blue print, you must have as a basic principle the determination to achieve excellence in your various fields of endeavour….You are going to be deciding as the days and the years unfold, what you will do in life, what your life’s work will be….. Once you discover what it will be, set out to do it and to do it well.
Be a bush if you can’t be a tree, if you can’t be a highway just be a trail! If you can’t be the sun, be a star, for it isn’t by size that you win or you fail, be the best at whatever you are!
Finally, in your life’s blueprint must be a commitment to the eternal principles of beauty, love, and justice.
Well life for none of us has been a crystal stair, but we must keep moving, we must keep going. If you can’t fly, run; if you can’t run, walk; if you can’t walk, crawl, but by all means keep moving! ~ Martin Luther King, Jr.
I love the spirit behind these words and the people who spoke them. They sure remind me that even the most successful people in the world are human too, and they experience(d) life just like we do. I am not alone and you also, are not alone. 🙂
Let us remember to keep our heads up, to maintain a stubbornly positive & enthusiastic spirit! Best of all, let us laugh every chance we get and keep moving!
The best is indeed, still yet to come! 😀
