Happy Holidays my friends! π I am delighted to share this beautiful gem that is Lemon Valley Farm with you!
Are you hoping for a heavenly retreat, but you are on a tight budget? Well, Lemon Valley Farm is the perfect place for you this holiday season!
About a month ago, I was deeply craving a getaway from the hustle and bustle of Nairobi life, to rejuvenate and recharge…
And right on time, I got an invite to visit Lemon Valley Farm that felt heaven-sent! I packed my bags, and got on my merry way! π
How to Get to Lemon Valley Farm
Lemon Valley Farm is located in Elementaita, about 2 hours, 30 minutes from Nairobi.
If going by public means, take a Molo Line/Prestige Shuttle to Nakuru, at the Odeon Stage in the CBD. Alert the driver in advance that youβll alight at Soysambu.
If you are driving, get on the Nairobi- Nakuru Highway and drive past Naivasha to Soysambu. Look out for a sign labelled βSerena Elementaitaβ on your right. From that point call the folks at Lemon Valley for further directions.
>> Normally, it costs between Kes. 400 to Kes. 600, though the fares may vary due to the escalating holiday season.
Of Heavenly Retreats: Enter Lemon Valley Farm
Tucked away on a Hill overlooking Lake Elementaita, Lemon Valley Farm is a budget travelers dream!
As its name suggests, Lemon Valley Farm has been adopted into a blissful retreat where visitors revel in the glorious offerings of nature and farm life. π
The ride to Lemon Valley Farm, from the highway, is pleasantly reminiscent of going home to the village… With only pure vegetation for company, there’s a sure promise of the serenity to come…
I felt the cares of the world Iβd left behind, gently melt into oblivion.
On The Farm, Every Pun Is Intended!
When we got to the farm, the sweeping views of the lake took my breath away. I noticed little puns everywhere, that are sure to put a smile on your face. π
They’ve done little as possible to disturb nature, giving you that distinct feeling of being outdoors… The dΓ©cor is quaint, with a rich touch of African culture.
You can tell that the owners put in great thought into every single detail, to make Lemon Valley Farm a charming escape for their visitors. I felt immediately at home. π
Since there was no set schedule, I was at liberty to stay or go wherever my heart desired. And I couldnβt have asked for a better gift! π
On All Matters Dining: Best Salads Experience!
Iβd heard from friends that the Salads at Lemon Valley Farm are memorable! So, as you can probably guess, that automatically became my unspoken testβ¦
I usually struggle with eating salads, and I was keen to see if they’d live up to their reputation.
My first meal was a Steak sandwich, served with fries. Needless to say, the salad was a luscious surprise!
You can taste the freshness of the ingredients thrown together, making it a great accompaniment for the sandwich!
They grow most of their produce in their organic garden. And at the farm, each meal is served with a healthy portion of salads!
So from that point on, each dining experience was an opportunity to sample the salads… even breakfast!
Honestly, I’ve never eaten that many salads willingly and liked it! They surely passed the test!
>> The meals cost between Kes. 600 and Kes. 1,000 and they serve such huge portions that can easily be shared between two people.
Cozy, Modest Accommodations with African DΓ©cor
I finally made it to my room in the dark of night, accompanied by one of the employees.
The cabins are quite a distance from the dining area, which makes for a good workout, if you want to keep fit while on holiday. By the time we got to the cabin, I was panting! (Read unfit.)
Tip>> Since itβs quite dark with nothing but the moon and stars to illuminate your path, be sure to carry a torch. Or you can use your phoneβs inbuilt torch feature.
The next morning, I was gently accosted by widespread views of the Lake in the distance…
And with the generous light of day, I could now better-appreciate the beauty of the African dΓ©cor in my room, afforded by the brightly colored bed spread and curtains. Just wow! π

>> They have 4 Cabins, 1 cottage and 2 hostels all with a maximum capacity of 30 people.
>> A stay here costs between Kes, 2,000 and 4,000 on Bed and Breakfast.
Rain: The Key to a Relaxing Day!
Much as I often crave a relaxing getaway, I am the kind of person who doesnβt know how to simply relax. Can you relate? π
I was tempted to spend my time going around trying to get the βbest picturesβ, but the rain had other ideasβ¦ Because of its proximity to the lake, Lemon Valley Farm experiences a couple of passing showers.
I remember sitting at the dining area watching and listening to the rain, beating down hard on the iron sheets. It was the most soothing sound!
And though you may not be able to count on the rains to slow you down, you can be certain that the tranquil atmosphere at Lemon Valley Farm will.
