Happy New Month Folks! 😀 Don’t you just love the hope and promise of new beginnings…? So what better time than now, for us to pause and check-in with a Taking Stock Post…
Confessions… Of Fears and Dreams!
How are you feeling about your 2019 and the goals you set at the top of the year?
I have a confession… 🙂
As you probably know, one of my biggest dreams is traveling around the world.
However, would you believe that not being able to travel the world is one of my worst fears?
In the pursuit of my dreams, I’ve faced challenges in the past, like limited finances, missed opportunities & rejected visas… Consequently, I see that these things have been feeding that fear for a while now.
Fear is paralyzing, isn’t it? And in all honesty, I’ve been living with that feeling of fear, mixed with despair, deep in my gut.
Have you ever felt that way about something you wanted so badly?
Facing Our Fears: Pledge Your World & Own It!
Well, I recently had the privilege of partnering up with Pledge World, an amazing international organization that’s aimed at helping people Own their choices, and pursue more positive lives!
Pledge World encourages you to make a Pledge about something you want to do, and live life on your own terms!
Because I want to face my fears head on and Own It, I came up with a personal Pledge that I shared on my Social Channels, last week:-
My suitcase may be broken, but my travel dreams remain intact! I pledge to buy a new suitcase & finally explore beyond East Africa with a brave smile! I’ll explore the Blue Town of Morocco & drop Yoga in the lovely streets of Marrakech!
I’m inspired by @Pledgeworld to #OwnIt a day at a time!
Where would your travels take you? #Sponsored #PoweredByBlu
I confess that sharing my pledge was downright scary! But I also realize, that when this comes to pass, you guys will be an authentic part of my journey… 🙂
So now, ask yourself: What if there were no barriers to achieving what you truly want to do?
Think about it & make your own pledge today… Let us commit to the process of making our pledges happen, & together, we’ll celebrate our victories!!
Tip:
>> Submit your pledge HERE & @PledgeWorld might just make it happen for you! 😀
Taking Stock March 2019
Buying: Myself a new spinner suitcase, the soonest possible!!
My black classic suitcase that broke, has served me for over 10 years, and it first belonged to my Dad. It is of great sentimental value to me… 🙂
Can’t help feeling like this means that it’s time for me to venture out of the nest, and fly into the great wide yonder. 🙂
Craving: Sunsets on the beach! I’ve been dying to travel to a destination with mesmerizing views of the ocean….
Cooking: Umm… better ugali these days! By ‘these days’, I actually mean- ‘that one day when my ugali cooked fully, and didn’t fall apart like the Walls of Jericho!’ Yeehaw! 😀
Drinking: Black tea, but with less Ginger!
Enjoying: Kenyan comedians on Instagram… You simply can’t have a bad day, especially with Teacher Wanjiku’s ‘WaJohn’ videos! 😀
Feeling: Really proud of myself for putting out this blog today… It took a special kind of prayer.
Learning: How to be more comfortable speaking in front of the camera. It’s a Work In Progress; but I promise not to give up!
Listening: To the ‘Redefining Wealth with Patrice Washington’ Podcast. My favorite episode so far is ‘Greatness Requires Us to Expect Resistance’.
I love her vulnerability about life’s low moments, whilst still maintaining a positively upbeat spirit!
>>Be sure to check it out!
Making: My Vision Board for 2019. I know we are 3 months in, but hey!
Also, a Vision Board Party sounds like a good idea…no?
Missing: My Dad. 🙁
Noticing: The beauty of new beginnings… Also, the joy of Saying Yes, and No, in good measure.
Playing: These three songs on Loop!!
Thrive by Casting Crowns; It is Well by Kristene Dimarco and Way Maker by Sinach.
Reading: A Devotional on ‘21 Days of Powerful Breakthroughs’ on the YouVersion Bible App.
Tip:
>>If you’re feeling stuck on something, or need to jump-start your faith about 2019 again, this devotional is a good place to start. 😉
Wanting: To do a 30 Day Yoga Challenge again. I successfully completed 31 days of Yoga in January, then took a much-needed break in February… So Hello March! 😀
Thinking: About my friend Beryl’s cooking! Girl!! The countdown to that Reunion is on! 😉
Watching: The ‘Accent Challenge’ videos on YouTube! Wanjiru Njiru’s version is hilarious! Check it out! 😀
Wishing: For a new Laptop. Can’t believe my darling Acer Netbook has held up this long… God, I know You’ve got me on this one! Thank You!
Working: On finding balance between work and rest.

March 1, 2019 at 11:08 pmI heard somewhere that when you start fearing that’s when you ought to do that which your fear most. Fear never goes away and the best we can do is push through. Thanks for this post. It affirms everything I have been listening to and reading. ❤
