Taking Stock October: Stop & Smell The Flowers!

Lifestyle
Taking Stock

Hello my friends! 😀 It’s officially my favourite time of year! Have you taken notice of the beautiful jacaranda trees blooming with pops of purple in the city? Do it!! Taking stock sometimes also means pausing to take notice of & smell the flowers…

And that’s what our Taking Stock posts are all about… a light, easy moment to breath, let loose & check in. 🙂

So, how are you feeling about the year nearly coming to a close? The days are racing and you might be feeling pressured that 2021 is fast-ending… I get this feeling too sometimes, and it can be overwhelming.

On the flip-side, perhaps you are feeling excited about the accomplishments & strides you’ve made this year? All power to you! (Claps.)

Nevertheless, I think there’s beauty in both sides of the coin. 🙂 October, is a good month to pause and reflect. Think about what matters to you, now. Could you still be chasing something that was important to you in January, but not anymore…?

And what does ‘finishing 2021 well’, look like to you now?

Take time to write down the things you value at this time. You might find that your goal posts have shifted. This will empower you to let go of anything not worth chasing.

And hopefully, you’ll find clarity about what you want these last 3 months of the year, to be about.

On my own journey, I keep reminding myself that ‘life is a marathon, not a sprint.’ This means that I don’t need to hold myself hostage. I can be flexible, let go, or change a few things around.

I hope you’ll find the freedom to take a look at the rest of 2021 through new eyes, and where needed, to give yourself a thousand chances to start over…

Taking Stock October 2021

Buying: Less!

Craving: The achari that my brother Kanja last brought me from Mombasa. Such a sweetheart that one is! 🙂

Cooking: Up new Vlog ideas…

Drinking: Water, but missing that mixed African Masala tea!

Feeling: Optimistic.

Hoping: That the ending of this year is better than the beginning… Lord knows the past few months have been heavy. Fingers crossed! 🙂

Listening: To a playlist called Mellow Days on Apple Music; it’s divine & soulful.

Looking: Forward to finishing my Covid-19 vaccination; 1 down, 1 to go!

Have you gotten your vaccination done yet? How was your experience?

Making: Peace with where I am at.

Missing: That Creamy Inn ice cream! 😀

Noticing: That a stillness Yoga practice takes as much willpower, (if not more) as a physically intense class.

Tip:

Try this 15 minute Yoga With Adriene Stillness For Stress virtual Yoga Class.

Praying: For God to bless my loved ones.

Reading: A Feast for Crows by George R.R. Martin. I am 3 years’ into his book series and still going strong! 😀

I love these taking stock blogs! They get me back on track in more than one way!!
Thanks for including this section in your Travel Blog Marion!

I really liked the tip on backing up to evaluate if there are things/goals/aspirations/dreams, am still chasing that are possibly not important now as they were when I set out to do them. Maybe I can shelve them for a later time, re-think them and pursue them differently or let go of them completely.

Red Table Talk! Where conversations get real!
I do need to catch up on the latest episodes 🙂

    Loved your first Vlog!
Looking forward to your next ones… Aye!

Lovely, lovely read Marion!!!! Taking stock when the year is almost coming to an end often conjures up reflective state in most people. If not most of us atleast some of us have the tendencies to look back over their year and consider all of the things they would do differently or would have done differently feelings of regrets and guilt what ifs and I should have .. . Well, for me I feel the tendency to want to reflect more on the what I have done, what am learning, how I can progress forward. It’s a process
