Hello my friends! 😀 Are you itching for a trip to the Coast? Well, come along as we take a quick, fun trip to PrideInn Diani for their relaunch event… Shall we? 😀

About 2 weeks ago, I got an invite to visit PrideInn Diani hotel for their reopening event… Since I love Diani, and can hardly ever turn down a visit to the Kenyan Coast, mine was an emphatic YES!

How To Get There:-

There are a couple of ways to get to Diani, from Nairobi. The fastest and most convenient way is by flying directly to Ukunda, in Diani.

Jambojet_to_diani

The second-best way is to either fly to Mombasa or take the SGR train, then connect to Diani via the Likoni Ferry.

For this trip I got to travel with fellow travel Creators: Bonita Aluoch and Oliver Masafu.

We flew to Mombasa with Jambojet, and on our arrival, PrideInn hotel had graciously organised our pick-up. Hassan, our driver for the day, welcomed us with that warm, coastal spirited smile. 😀

The drive from Likoni to PrideInn Diani, typically takes about 30 minutes… However, our trip from Mombasa to Diani, turned out to be a little more hectic than expected… On that day, some of the ferries were out of commission, hence the car/ human traffic was at an all-time high in Likoni…

Thankfully, the people managing the flow of cars in and out of the ferry were doing a great job, making it work.

Quick Tips:
  • If you can, fly directly to Ukunda from Nairobi. This will save you lots of time that you can use to explore Diani.
  • And should you go the Mombasa route, plan to arrive in Likoni much earlier in the day. Our experience was much better the next day, when we got to Likoni at 7am.

Enter PrideInn Hotel Diani: A Bleisure Destination!

PrideInn is a family-owned chain of hotels with a growing presence in Kenya. They currently have properties in: Nairobi, Mombasa, Maasai Mara and now Diani…

Located on Beach Road, about 3km from Diani town, the hotel is a 10minutes’ drive from the Ukunda airstrip.

Following the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic, the hotel’s been closed down for two years. They’ve spent the last 9 months putting in blood and sweat towards reopening it…

To sweeten the deal, they’ve included a modern Aqua Park… Hence, you can plan to visit for business and bring your family along for the trip!

The True heart of PrideInn Diani… Splendidly Heartfelt Client Service!

When we arrived, we were graciously received by Levy Tolbert, our host. By then, we were completely famished… Luckily for us, we’d arrived right on time for lunch!

We settled down for sumptuous meal at their restaurant, which overlooks the pool… Tony, one of the waiting staff, went out of his way to make sure we were well-taken care of. 🙂

To our surprise, we learned that the hotel was already full thanks to an ongoing conference… Ever the thoughtful hosts, Levy and his team had made arrangements for us to spend the night at their lovely boutique Nyali property in Mombasa.

Day 2….

The next morning, we left Nyali bright and early to beat the ferry traffic in Likoni… This turned out to be a genius idea, because it took less than 15 minutes to cross over. And in no time, we’d arrived at PrideInn Diani!

The launch event preparations were heavily underway… I couldn’t help but notice their staff’s great efforts!

Our first stop was to the restaurant for breakfast… Although we hadn’t spent the night there, the waiting staff made us feel most welcome and at home. I remembered Mary, at the buffet table, from the day before… She’s always at hand to give the best recommendations on what to eat.

This time, she suggested I try the chicken, and whoa!! That chicken was to die for! I can almost taste it now, as I write this… 🙂

After breakfast, I took some time to explore the hotel, getting to see it through fresh eyes…

I love how they’ve used wooden fixtures to give the hotel a home-like feel, while also adding a rich flare to it, with carefully selected paintings and carved wooden doors.

The Long Awaited Moment: PrideInn Diani Reopens…

As the day progressed, we watched how the pool area slowly transformed and the aqua park came to life. 😀 A band was playing by the pool, giving the day a really relaxing, yet lively feel to it…

The event officially kicked off with the arrival of the Deputy Governor of Kwale County, Josephat Kombo.

Lunch was served buffet style, and I must say, the team really kept outdoing themselves with the food! That was possibly my best meal at PrideInn -yet!

After lunch, we moved to one of their main Conference halls, where the PrideInn Group MD, Hasnain Noorani and the Deputy Governor, each gave a speech. One thing stood out for me as they spoke: their love and big plans for the town of Diani.

And as the event came to a successful close, I was genuinely happy for the PrideInn team because their efforts had paid off!

Looking back now, I can confidently say that my favourite part of our entire visit, was getting to experience the PrideInn staff. They consistently showed up, and served with an eager smile on their faces.

And while I may not remember all their names, I recall quite vividly how they made me feel as a PrideInn guest… It is my sincere hope that this will be your experience when you visit. 🙂
