3 Simple Self-care Tips For A Fresh Start!
There’s something about the month of March that makes me think of a fresh start… I was pleasantly surprised to learn that one of the Spiritual meanings of March is new beginnings or renewal.
And in some parts of the world, the season of Spring has just commenced… a time when nature is awakening, with the trees and flowers starting to bloom again. :)

Hence, it feels like the best time to hit that reset button! No matter how your year has been so far, you get to choose to start afresh!
And so, I invite you on this journey of making a fresh start… are you game? :)

Declutter: Create Space For The New
Take a moment to look at your immediate surroundings… Is it cluttered with things, or well-organised? Is there space for the person you hope to become?
I am one of those people who cannot operate with clutter in my space. To be productive, my physical space needs to be in order. In the same way, journaling helps to create some mental space…
For us to make a fresh start, we need to start by creating space for it… Consider: when was the last time you decluttered your space? This could be any part of your life, home, office, including your phone… :)
Create space for something new, by letting go of what no longer serves you.

Practice The Art Of Being Still
Sometimes, the noise within us can be even louder than the outside noise. Have you ever felt like this?
I spent some time in meditation this week… And for the first time in a long while, it felt like I could really breathe. Now, both my heart and mind feel more grounded.
We can all agree that life in the 21st Century is super fast, with distractions everywhere.
As human beings, we need to pause every so often and spend time in silent reflection. We need time to check in with our inner selves… Only then, can we find the clarity on what is truly meaningful to us.

Take the time to reflect on: what does being still look like for you? Do you need to wake up earlier and spend some alone time? Perhaps you need to take up journaling or meditation?
I have noticed that the more time I spend being silent reflection, the more clarity I get about my life and the direction to take.
It doesn’t have to be perfect… I hope you find what works best in your situation, and that your inner compass illuminates what a fresh start looks like, just for you.

Establish A Self-Care Routine
Do you have a self-care routine in place? Or better yet, what is a self-care routine?
A self-care routine is an intentional set of practices aimed at helping to maintain your emotional, mental and physical wellbeing.
It is easy to take our selves and bodies for granted… Think about it- what do you do when an appliance in your house stops working well? You call in a specialist to fix it or get a new one, yes? People also get their cars serviced on a regular basis…
And though our bodies and minds are irreplaceable, we often push ourselves until we ‘break down,’ and/or end up in hospital.
Let’s choose to be different, shall we?
Your self-care routine doesn’t need to be complicated, or look like someone else’s. It just has to work for you.

Taking Stock March
Buying: Scented candles. :)
Craving: A road-trip.
Cooking: Oats porridge and loving it. Glad to have finally cracked that puzzle! :D
Drinking: Herbal teas. I can’t seem to decide which one is my favourite, but those Kericho Gold guys certainly know what they are doing!
Have you tried their flavoured herbal teas? :)

Eating: Mangoes, before they disappear!
Enjoying: This moment right here… Being able to write is a gift.
Feeling: Grateful for progress. I can genuinely say from experience, that God answers prayers! Praised Be!!
Hoping: That 2025 is a year of replenishment and a better year for all of us. :)
Learning: Not to take anything for granted and be grateful for everything!
Listening: To this groovy Spotify Playlist that my friend Amira created for my birthday last year! She’s such a thoughtful human! Next to handwritten letters, music makes the list of thoughtful gifts! :)
Looking: To declutter my book collection soon…
Quick Tips:
- When decluttering, start by figuring out your WHY. This will motivate you to keep you going, when tempted to give up or hold on to items that no longer serve you.
- Take it one step/task at a time… it doesn’t all have to be done in one day.
Making: The intentional decision to not worry about the future. :)
Missing: All my nieces and nephews. They grow up so fast!
Noticing: How much I love and enjoy my own company.

Praying: For good health and joy-filled, peaceful days. :)
Reading: My friend Lungelo’s draft of his unpublished book… and it is soo good! I can’t wait for him to finish and get it published! Love to see my friends doing ALL the things!!!
What are you currently reading? I’d love to hear all about it, in the comments’ section below. :)
Thinking: About how fast time goes… All the more reason to make our time on earth count.

Wanting: To declutter my wardrobe and to only maintain the pieces that bring me joy. Wish me luck! :D
Watching: Reruns of ‘It’s A Different World‘ on Netflix… And I have to say, we really did grow up in a different world back then!
I enjoy those little reminders of what life was like before the internet or even mobile phones! :D
Wishing: For my humans to succeed and win in everything!
Working: On implementing the 3 tips above, on making a fresh start- one day at a time. :)
